International Resources for Cincinnati Businesses- An overview of the U.S. Commercial Service & State of Ohio Global Markets Division

Join us on June 3rd as Kara Sweeney and Alex Kohls discuss the resources available to local companies to assist in their marketing efforts overseas. At both the state and federal level, there are practical tools available to help Ohio companies mitigate risk and foster success in foreign markets.

About the Speakers
Kara Sweeney
Kara is an International Trade Specialist with the U.S. Commercial Service (CS) in Cincinnati, Ohio — A division of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Kara received a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in International Business from Xavier University, Cincinnati Ohio.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish with minors in Public Relations and Latin American Studies at the State University of New York at Geneseo. Kara also completed coursework at the Universidad de Salamanca, Salamanca, Spain.

Previous to her work at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Kara worked in the financial industry in leasing, retail and customer service. Kara is currently a board member of the Northern Kentucky International Trade Association (NKITA), National Society of Hispanic MBAs, and also serves on the advisory board for the International Business Center at Northern Kentucky University.

Alex Kohls
Alex Kohls joined the Ohio Department of Development’s Global Markets Division in March 2006. He is responsible for managing the programs and operations of Global Markets in the Greater Cincinnati area.  Kohls currently serves as the Desk Officer for China and Southeast Asia. In addition, Kohls serves as the Ohio representative for the Export Trade Advisory Council through the Appalachian Regional Commission. Kohls holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Ohio University and is a graduate of the Appalachian Leadership Academy.
